About the group
Green Building brings together expertise in immersive technologies and construction to make building renovation simpler, faster, more affordable and more environmentally sustainable. The group focuses on accessible 3D scanning of existing buildings and construction sites, Scan-to-BIM workflows, virtual tours and digital construction documentation. These tools can help stakeholders inspect sites remotely, coordinate work and support the transition towards lower-emission building materials and practices.
The group addresses Europe’s housing affordability, climate and energy challenges by connecting virtual-world technologies with sustainable construction and renovation. Its proposal maps to SRIA chapter 1a.9 and supports the European Commission’s housing affordability initiative.

Expected outputs
- A low-barrier mobile 3D capturing application with a Scan-to-BIM pipeline.
- A collaborative virtual-tour platform for construction and remote inspection.
- A unified digital construction logbook for EU buildings.
- An EU policy recommendation white paper on renovation with XR, indicatively after one year; tool development is envisaged over three years.
